He is survived by : his mother Jennie Margaret Erskine Chapman of Winfield; his wife Debra Leslie Chapman; his children, Jennifer Chapman Garrigan (Jay) of Charlotte, NC, John William IV (Sarah) of Fort Mill, SC, Jake Chapman (Lani) of Hurricane, Ty Chapman (Tara) of Charlotte, Jered Chapman, Morgan Pack of Hurricane and Justin Chapman (Brooke) of Belmont, NC.; his grandchildren, Reagan, Vaida, Elle, John V, Ty II, Clara, Ruth, Jacob and Erin; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Jason Patrick Smith, Grace, Faith Yeager, Sophia Yeager, Vivienne Yeager, George Cross and Ivery Cross; his brothers, Dr. Thom Chapman of Winfield and Glen; his sister-in-law Anita Leslie Yeager; his nieces and nephews, Glenn Yeager, Dr. Anita Yeager Smith (Jason), Elizabeth Yeager Cross (Brett), Michelle Nichols, Thad Chapman, Andrew Chapman, Andrea Burch, J. F. Leslie and Josh Leslie; and also Marie Schimer. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
