He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Chipps and Myrtie Cowger Chipps; his son David Chipps; and his siblings, Denzel Chipps, Freda Alderman, Opal Yates and Mae Seely.
He is survived by: his wife Nellie Lemoine Dever Chipps of Kanawha Head; his daughter Diane Chipps Ware of Kanawha Head; his grandsons, Travis Ware, Nicholas, Tyler and Caleb Chipps; and his great grandchildren, Gauge, Nathen, Gavin Ware, Adaline and Decland Chipps.
