She was predeceased by : her parents, Alec Zander Howerton and Helen Lucas Howerton; her former life partner Ralph Johnston; and her siblings, Ernest Howerton and Hester Hancock.
She is survived by : her husband Louie Mullens; her children, Helen Compton (Tommy) of Grundy, VA and Ralph Johnston (Patty) of Dublin, VA; and her sister Dorothy Lawrence of Weyanoke. She is also survived by six grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
