It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Marquita Mendieta (Martinsburg, West Virginia), born in Wadesboro, North Carolina, who passed away on August 30, 2023, at the age of 40, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her father Lester "Bob" Redman; and her grandfather Lacy Smith. She is survived by: her mother Deborah Redman; her husband Raul Mendieta (Chato); her daughter Zakalani Mendieta; her stepchildren, Raulito Mendieta and Kiera Baxter; her parents-in-law, Mirtha and Fransisco Mendieta; her sister Shanbrae Redman; her grandmother Juanita Chambers; her nieces, Shikera Burns and Azaria Taylor; her stepsister Marresa Burg; her sister-in-law Francia Mendieta; her niece Fara; her sister-in-law Mirtha Royer; her sibling's children, Samir, Emir and Marbella Mendieta; her great-niece Fernada Portillo; her close friend Debra Kinley; and her godmothers, Angela and Joannie Spencer. She is also survived by uncles, aunts, cousins, and a multitude of friends.
