He was predeceased by: his parents, James Clifton Kelley and Mary Gertrude James Kelley; and his brothers, Hyman, Charles and William "Bear".
He is survived by: his son John D. Kelley, Jr. of Catonsville, MD; and his sisters, Mary G. Dayhoff of Moorefield, WV, Rose Shifflett of Hagerstown, MD and Libby Grimm of Baltimore, MD.
