He was predeceased by: his parents, William Bowen Sherman and Helen Lee Runions Sherman; and his brothers, Orlando Sherman, Jackie "Friday" Sherman and Tony Wimer.

He is survived by: his wife Brenda Catherine Wimer Sherman; his children, Shawn P. Sherman, Jeremy A. Sherman of Petersburg, WV and Sacha S. Bucklew of Moorefield, WV; and his siblings, James B. Sherman of Moorefield, WV and Betty Capps of Angier, NC.
