He is survived by : his wife Roberta Cornwell Knotts; his children, John "Rick" Holden, Denny Joe Knotts, Darlene, Perry Knotts, Bessie of Belpre, OH, Cody Knotts, Phillip Austin, Courtney, Thornton, Adam Austin, Hilary Austin and Brian; his grandchildren, Shawn, Nathan, Taylor, Sammie, Cole, Savannah, Grizzly, Hunter, Tyson, Markiah and Dustin; his great grandchildren, Alauric and Gwenavere; and his brothers, Eugene (Janet Knotts) and Hallie (Beverly Knotts). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
