He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Daniel Gillis and Catherine Irene Workman Gillis; and his brothers, Jack Gillis and Willard Gillis. He is survived by: his wife Bernadine Leona Townsend Gillis; his children, Barbara Todd (Michael) of Bobtown, PA, Loretta Ledsome (Danny) of Cassville, Andrew Gillis of Osage, Charles Allen Eddy of Nashville, TN and Richard Lee Eddy of Nashville, TN; and his siblings, Helen Chesney, Mary Piper, Diane Lewis and Kenny Gillis. He is also survived by several grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
