She was predeceased by: her parents, Davis A. Bostic and Minnie Bostic; her husband Darel Shumate; her siblings, Gracie Bostic Pickett, Willard Thomas Bostic and Herman A. Bostic; and her stepsiblings, Dave Bostic, George Bostic, Charlie Bostic, John Bostic and Mary Billips.
She is survived by: her grandchildren, Billips, Pearl Roberts and India Kennedy; her children, Wayne Shumate (Connie) of Bluefield, WV and Anita Richardson (Dale) of Anawalt, WV; her grandchildren, Christopher Richardson (Brandi), Kevin Richardson (Kim) and Virginia Shumate (Michael Mault); her great grandchildren, Logan and Ashlyn Richardson; her sister Thelma Bostic of Bluefield, WV; and her sisters-in-law, Wanda Bostic of Tazewell, VA and Dorothy Bostic of Bluefield, VA. She is also survived by her children and grandchildren.
