He was predeceased by: his parents, Evans Wood and Mary Mae Wood Beckett; and his stepfather Eugene Beckett. He is survived by: his wife Joyce; his children, Kim Walters (Greg), Natalie Lee (Randy) and Mike Wood (Sherry); his grandchildren, Josh Walters (Sabrina), Megan Martin (Adam), Derik Walters (Sarah), Kyle Barnette (Megan), Eric Lee (Julia), Kelli Barnette, Megan Lee, Jill Irwin (Mike), Emily Koerber, Mackenzi Wood (Kassidy), Meredith Hushion (Christian) and Cameron Wood; and his sister Carolyn Morris of Wilmington. He is also survived by his wife, grandchildren, great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, December 9th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, December 10th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Leavitt Funeral Services and Crematory - Parkersburg (403 7th St, Parkersburg, WV 26101). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 10th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
Donations can be made in his memory to the Erickson All-Sports Facility Development Corporation or the Gabriel Project at St. Francis Xavier in Parkersburg, WV, or the Pregnancy Care Center of Hickory, North Carolina.
