With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Irene Alt of Petersburg, West Virginia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 12, 2025 at the age of 91. She was predeceased by: her parents, Elwood Newton Turley and Rose Anna Turley (Bowman); her husband H. Keith Alt; and her sisters, Patti Gapp and Linda Raines.
She is survived by: her children, Wayne K. Alt (Joy Shuttle) of Midlothian, VA and Tammy L. Judy (David Judy) of Petersburg, WV; her granddaughters, Kendra L. Mayle (Daniel Mayle) and Melissa K. Wimer (Chris Wimer); her great grandchildren, Raylan Mayle, Wyatt Mayle, Paxton Wimer, Maverik Wimer and Bristol Wimer; and her sisters, Frances "Pudy" Leatherman of Old Fields, WV and Sue Sager of Moorefield, WV. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 20th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home (11 N Main St, Petersburg, WV 26847). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 20th 2025 at 7:00 PM and on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
