He was predeceased by: his parents, James Howard and Martha Jane Staats (Gibbs). He is survived by: his wife Cathy Hartley Staats; his children, Thomas Christopher Staats (Angela) of Point Pleasant and Kristen Ashley Mauser (Philip) of Morgantown, WV; his siblings, Jim Staats (Sandy) of Point Pleasant and Jane Moore (Loyd) of Williamstown, WV; his sister-in-law Sonja Capehart of Rockwall, TX; his grandchildren, Justin Thomas Staats (Kenzie Warth), Ashley Nicole Staats and Brooks Ryan Mauser; and his great grandchild Finn Thomas Staats. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trinity United Methodist Church.
