He was predeceased by : his wife Shirley Pownall Burkett; his son Mark "Scott" Burkett; and his siblings, Lanora Burkett and Jack Burkett. He is survived by : his children, James Michael Burkett (Kassandra) of Keyser, WV, Kathy Owens (Junior) of Shanks, WV, Stephen A. Burkett (Lori Ann) of Augusta, WV, Kevin Burkett (Mary) of Romney, WV and Dereck Burkett (Sandy) of Points, WV; and his sisters, Helen Hines of Romney, WV and Sue Saville of Romney, WV. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
