He was predeceased by: his parents, Hosea Howard Nicholas and Tina Duncan Nicholas; his son James Lyle Nicholas; his wife Barbara Louise Kinzel Nicholas; and his siblings, Hosea H. Nicholas, Jr., William B. Nicholas, George W. Nicholas, Mary Lorena Haught and Lillian Francis Nicholas.
He is survived by: his children, Cheryl Ann Nicholas Hall (Russell), John Woodrow Nicholas and Joseph Harold Nicholas; his grandchildren, John Russell Nicholas (Helen), Shannon Leigh Hall Miller, Cody Nathan Nicholas (Reanna), Kayleena Rose Nicholas and Dylan James Nicholas (Courtney); and his great grandchildren, Gracen Nicholas, Eris Miller and Tucker Miller.
