He was predeceased by: his parents, William "Bill" Chewning and Mildred Adkins Chewning; and his sister Connie Adkins. He is survived by: his wife Donna Bruce Chewning; his children, T. J. Chewning, Jr. of Mt. Hope, WV and Jennifer Marie Warick of Mt. Hope, WV; his stepdaughter Katherine Green of Chattanooga, TN; his siblings, Tom Chewning of Big Island, VA, Chris Yancey of Beckley, WV and Bonnie Sue Young of True, WV; his granddaughters, Jessica Underwood of Fayetteville, WV and Shali Warwick of Mt. Hope, WV; and his great grandchild Everley Underwood.
