He is survived by : his grandson Richard Douglas Vandegrift, II; his daughter-in-law Kathy Hutchins-Vandegrift; his stepgranddaughter Brandy Shrader; his niece Darlene Carter; and his nephew Paul Vandegrift, Jr..
