He was predeceased by : his parents, Ethel James and Fred James; his daughter Jody Lynn; his grandsons, Mathew Cormier and Paul Lombardi; and his wife Carol Joy James.

He is survived by : his former life partner Dixie Helm; his daughters, Tammy, Becky and Cindy; his wife Crystal Rothenberg; his child Laramie; his stepchildren, Ursula, David, Thomas and Robert; and his nephew Larry Hysong. He is also survived by 7 children, 26 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
