He was predeceased by : his parents, John Karavas and Wanda Zebrowski Karavas. He is survived by : his wife Phyllis Piscopo Karavas; his children, Kimberly Bracale (Joseph), Jennifer Cifarelli (Steve), Jeff Karavas (Noreen), Lisa Johnson (Bill) and Paul Desiderio; and his pet Maggie.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 29th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home (36 Washington Ave, North Haven, CT 06473). The military honors was held on Monday, April 29th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
