He was predeceased by : his parents, Edward Charters and Maryann Charters; his sister Madeline (Ray Donahue); and his son-in-law Victor Chavez. He is survived by : his wife Roseann Curran; his daughters, Sioban (Carlos Nalda), Aileen (Gregory Meyer) and Joann (Victor Chavez); and his grandchildren, Caitlin (Francis McInerny), Ciara, Christa, Claire Nalda, Roisin, Eoin, Mairead Meyer and Tara Chavez.

Visitation was held on Friday, May 24th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Faries Funeral Directors (29 S Main St, Smyrna, DE 19977). A vigil service was held on Friday, May 24th 2024 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, May 25th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the St. Polycarp Parish (55 Ransom Ln, Smyrna, DE 19977).
