With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Lois Portee Johnson of Winston Salem, North Carolina, born in Newark, New Jersey, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 2, 2024 at the age of 92. She was predeceased by : her parents, Rubin Portee and Coleste Portee; her former life partner Henry Arthur Johnson; her children, Lee Johnson and Pamela Johnson; her grandson Shaun Goolsby; her great grandchildren, Ashy'a Simone, Mybre Dunston and Sahana Rayne'Chin; and her sisters, Elvena Carter, Daisy Nicely and Violet Lloyd.

She is survived by : her husband Winston-Salem; her children, Derek Johnson (Valerie), Duane Johnson, Terence Johnson, Paul Johnson, Elvena Johnson, Henrietta Butler (Raymond), Sheila Johnson, Wanda Johnson, Lois Suber (Timothy), Rhonda Johnson, Donna Johnson, Dora Johnson, Shana Johnson (Michael) and Karen Leland-Hayden (James); and her nieces, Geraldine Carter, Valeria Bennett, Joanne Mays and Michele Nicely. She is also survived by child; 42 grandchildren; 92 great-grandchildren, 53 great-great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life was held on Sunday, May 12th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Lambert Funeral Chapel (635 Wilkesboro St, Mocksville, NC 27028). A memorial service was held on Monday, May 13th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses (1710 Lewisville Clemmons Rd, Clemmons, NC 27012).
