He was loved and cherished by many people including : his wife Harriet Nelson Washington; his former life partner Ella Coleman Washington; his children, Claire Washington of Smyrna, DE, Donna Washington of Los Angeles, CA, Wanda Humphrey of Pittsford, NY and Deborah Washington of Seattle, WA; his grandchildren, Jelani Washington-Crum, Devon Humphrey, Ella Humphrey and Jaden Washington-Beverly; his stepdaughters, Valerie Moon of Eastchester, NY and June DiCicco-Hanley of Hastings, NY; his grandsons, Charles Delanoy, Jr. and Thomas Hanley, Jr.; his siblings, Ella Hardy of St. Albans, NY, Jewel Boganey of Chicago, IL, Carol Savage of Lee's Summit, MO, Dorothy Washington of Lee's Summit, MO, Gilbert Washington of Rosedale, NY., Norma Clark and Jessie Jenkins; and his parents, Clarence Washington and Ruby Washington. He was also cherished by other family members and friends.

Visitation was held on Thursday, May 2nd 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home (64 Ashford Ave, Dobbs Ferry, NY 10522). A funeral service was held on Friday, May 3rd 2024 at 11:30 AM at the Dobbs Ferry Lutheran Church (43 Ashford Ave, Dobbs Ferry, NY 10522).
