He was predeceased by : his parents, Ina M. Hopson (Landrum) and Hutch Hopson; and his siblings, Ruth McInnis, James Hopson and Ruth Mclnnis.

He is survived by : his wife Beverly Hopson of Lufkin; his children, Richard Hopson of Galveston, Charlcie Johnson of Lufkin and BeJa (Jeanievev Hopson) of Lufkin; and his siblings, Felix Hopson and Alice Sepulvador. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren, 5 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members.

Visitation was held on Thursday, May 9th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel (1515 S Chestnut St, Lufkin, TX 75901). A funeral service was held on Thursday, May 9th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
