It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Joan Butler of San Antonio, Texas, born in Indianapolis, Indiana, who passed away on May 15, 2024, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

In the echoes of fond remembrance, may a sense of peace be found, knowing that the memories held dear will continue to shape and inspire her loved ones, keeping Mary Joan's spirit alive in the hearts and actions of family and friends alike. While her presence may be gone, her impact lives on in the kindness shown to others and the joy found in the ordinary moments of life.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Dr. Austin Sweet and Mildred Sweet (Jaquith) of Martinsville, Indiana.. She is survived by : her sons, David Butler (Andrea) and Jeffrey Butler (Wendy); and her sisters, Maurine Bray and Sarah Roland. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.

Visitation was held on Saturday, May 25th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Costin Funeral Chapel (539 E Washington St, Martinsville, IN 46151). A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 25th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Kalamazoo Symphony or the Audubon Society.
