He was predeceased by : his parents, Charles R "Dick" Sams and Ora Sams; his siblings, Sharon Berry, Nova Sams and Charles Sams; and his siblings-in-law, Dan Berry and Lillian Sams.

He is survived by : his wife Eloise Sams; his children, Terry Sams (Tami) and Lori Mills (Lorne); his grandchildren, Keri Sams, Whitney Dobson (Adam), Lindsey Gates (Arnold), Matthew Sams (Stephanie), Ethan Mills and Levi Mills; his great grandchildren, Parker, Paxton, Presley Dobson, Kiona Gates, Colton, Carlee Sams and Sophia Mills; and his brother Marlin Sams (Carol).

A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 24th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Sunset Memorial Funeral Home (1934 Dupont Rd, Parkersburg, WV 26101).
