He was predeceased by: his parents, George Chestnut and Margaret Chestnut (Hersey); and his siblings, George Chestnut, Ronald Chestnut and Sarah Mallory.

He is survived by: his children, Loretta Chestnut (David) of Kingston, Ontario and Jeffrey Chestnut (Krista) of Napanee, Ontario; and his siblings, Anne Mallory of Sussex, Ken Chestnut (Brenda) of Toronto, Stephen Chestnut of Toronto and Cecil Chestnut of Vancouver. He is also survived by his grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
