He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Coates and Jean Coates (Rouse); and his siblings-in-law, Delbert Thorne, Patricia Thorne and Betty Muir.
He is survived by: his wife Margaret Coates (Thorne); his children, Randy Coates (Melanie Gregg) of Upperton and Kathy Morrell of Sussex; his grandson Dylan Coates of Havelock; his pet Tuck; and his siblings, Eleanor McCullum of Apohaqui and Ronald Coates (Ann) of Knightville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A reception was held on Saturday, May 17th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Sussex Baptist Church (28 Church Ave, Sussex, NB E4E1Y7).
