He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Alfred Giles and Evelyn Healey; his wife Mary; and his brothers, Vincent, Bernard and Albert Giles.
He is survived by: his close friend Ruth Hall; his children, Sylvia Carleton Place (Christopher) and Stephen (Paul) of Ottawa; and his siblings, Maryanna Dunlop of Dunnville, ON and Theodore Giles (Ted) of Fergus, ON. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and extended family.
