He was predeceased by: his brother Gerald. He is survived by: his wife Margaret Anne Caston; his children, Chris Caston (Christina Jackson) and Craig Caston (Stacey); his grandchildren, Jacob (Elise), Spencer (Victoria), Michael (Kaitlyn), Jackson and Aiden; and his sisters, Wendy Caston (late Russell), Karen McGee (Wilford) and Joan Crawford (late Wally). He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations in Vern's memory may be made to the Diabetic Association, or the Canadian Cancer Society.
