Pete was my only brother. and is deeply missed. ( I executed a Legal Name Change in 2009 to reclaim my birth name. Before, I was Jim Martindale) Though geography and personal choices kept us distant through the years, on the rare occasions when we were together I felt privileged to be in the presence of such a calm, even tempered and composed man. I know that others, too, found Pete to be a model of equanimity. I am thankful that Pete found real joy in his family.

I woke early this past Monday morning to prepare for a fishing trip with friends, when my phone buzzed with my lifetime good friend Michael's contact photo came on. I thought this might not be good news. Brother, we won't be able to call each other to talk able football, NBA or life any longer. Our memories of D. A. Smith, our Army times, or to say hey. I will carry your memories about happy times, crazy times or times that made us cry. I'll always REMEMBER THE TIME!
