He was loved and cherished by many people including: parents: Paul Metro, Arthur Lightner, and Elizabeth Lightner; wife: Joyce Mae Fordsmand; children: Donna (Tim) Hyser, Paula Sherman, Terri Lightner-Merwin, Angela "AG" (Dennis Mente) Lightner-Merwin, Mike Lightner, Pamela Trevino-Lightner, Philip Lightner, and Gregg Maske; grandchildren: Branden Ramey; son-in-law: John Kamholtz; sister: Julianne Seal; nephews: Roger Wilcox and Patrick Seal; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 4th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and on Monday, October 5th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Belvidere Funeral Home & Cremation Service (203 Logan Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
