He was predeceased by : his parents, Percy Blatchford and Mae Herman; his siblings, Tommy, Ernest, Eugene, Percy, Grace, Dolly Peters, Gloria Peck, Christine Holmberg and Ruby Blatchford; his daughter Nola Hopkins; and his grandson Michael Chase.

He is survived by : his siblings, Jack (Peggy), Henry "Doc", Mae Brandon and Marjorie Gagnon; and his children, Ward Courtney (Cheryl), Sidney Jr (Syneva), Julie Chase (Marvan), Jenette Gates (David) and Camey Gaines. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
