He was predeceased by: his mother Nora Lee Peterson; his aunt Thollie DeShazo; his wife Barbara Forehand Peterson; his brothers, Johnny Mac Watson and Charles Sawyer; John William Peterson and America Elmore Peterson.
He is survived by: his son Derek Peterson (Jan); his grandchildren, Will Peterson (Olivia) and Claire Russell (J. T.); his great grandchildren, Mary Margarette Peterson and Anna Caroline Russell; and his siblings, Charlene Goolsby (Eugene), Thollie Clayton (Tommy) and Mike Sawyer (Becky) of Denver, CO. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
