He was predeceased by : his parents, Samuel Whitney and Bertha Whitney (Hood); and his siblings, Ronald Whitney, Samuel Whitney Jr. and Nan Tindell.

He is survived by : his wife Cora Bremer; his daughters, Lorene G. Whitney and Robin J. Mayer (Richard); his grandson Martin Mayer; and his brother Lorenzo Whitney. He is also survived by sister-in-law; many nieces and nephews.
