He was predeceased by: his parents, John Edward and Myrtis Burton; his former wife Barbara Hinke Burton; his grandson Rex Moncus; his siblings, Nell Patterson (Grady) and Ned Burton (Nan); and his sisters-in-law, Lee Burton, Martha Burton and Shirley Burton.
He is survived by: his wife Janice Lyles Rearden Burton; his children, Larry (Donna) of Lineville, AL and Rita Moncus (Ed) of Rogersville, AL; his stepsons, Mark Rearden (Sherri) of Valley, AL and Lyle Rearden of Valley, AL; his brothers, Durward Burton of Birmingham, AL and Jack Burton of Alexander City, AL.; his grandchildren, Mack Moncus, Zach Burton, Bridgette Burton, Ben Burton, Zeke Rearden and Eli Rearden; and his great grandchildren, Kathleen Moncus, Bennett Moncus, MaKenna Burton, Lawson Burton, Brooks Burton, Sawyer Grace Burton, Lydia Rearden, Ellie Rearden, Hank Rearden, Royce Rearden and Bennett Rearden.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Lake Martin Baptist Church (9823 Co Rd 34, Dadeville, AL 36853). A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or the charity of your choice.
