He is survived by : his children, Kem Salter, Donna Murphy (Pat), Jim Burns (Donda), Tim Burns (Lisa) and Jeff Chandler (Bonnie); his grandchildren, Dana Murphy, Michael Murphy (Ashleigh), Cassie Edwards (Sonny), Nicolas Salter, Tyler Braden (Julie), Adam Chandler (Hannah), Evan Chandler, Shane Burns (Haley), Anna Carter (Brian), Brett Burns (Claire) and Callie Sprayberry (Patrick); his great grandchildren, Jordan Lindsey, Camdyn Salter, Cainyn Salter, Zack Salter, Berkleigh Braden, Holland Braden, Linley Carter, Jack Carter, Libby Carter, Railey Burns, Georgia Burns, Adalyn Burns and Sylvie Sprayberry; his grandchildren, Haleigh Edwards and Colton Edwards; his cousin Troy Smith; and his close friend Hilda Lacey. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Friday, May 24th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church (6577 AL-63, Alexander City, AL 35010). A funeral service was held on Friday, May 24th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
