He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Earl Gowan (Elizabeth Warwick Gowan) and Elizabeth Gowan; and his brother-in-law Jerry Worpell. He is survived by: his wife Carol Gowan of Alexander City; his daughter Elizabeth Frances Gowan of Auburn; and his sister Barnette "Bee" Worpell.
