Alvis Lyle Payne Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Alvis Lyle Payne of Altoona, Alabama, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 28, 2026 at the age of 84. He was predeceased by: his parents, Newell Payne and Leola Payne; his sisters, Wanda Payne Asbell and Mavis Payne Scruggs; and his niece Teresa Splawn.
He is survived by: his significant other Dianne Washburn; his daughter Elaine; his grandsons, Nick Hughes and Caleb Hughes (Courtney); his great grandchildren, Hunter, Madison, Dominik, Trent and Kamryn; his grandson Hunter Hughes; and his great-nephews, Jace Golden, Colby Pierce and Mason Battles.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, March 4th 2026 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Samuels Chapel United Methodist Church (625 Samuels Chapel Rd, Altoona, AL 35952). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, March 4th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
