He is survived by: his wife Sherry Sims; his son Nelson Sims (Amanda); his siblings, Lomax Sims, Jeanette Weaver and Annette McCreary; and his pet Little Miss.

He faced many years with Parkinson's disease with quiet strength and resilience.
