He was predeceased by: his parents, Austin Lee and Lillie Gonion Carter; and his siblings, Calvin Carter, Fred Carter, Madge Stewart, Ann Adams and Doris Starkey.
He is survived by: his wife Mertha Carter; his sons, Hank Carter (Sue) of Andalusia, Shane Carter of Andalusia and Cody Carter (Judy) of Andalusia; and his siblings, Gracie Mae Cook of Andalusia, Nellene Johnson of Opp and Donnie Carter of Guntersville, AL.. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren.
