He is survived by: his wife Joan Hill Mitchell; his sons, Dr. Ryan Mitchell (Megan) of Wake Forest, NC and Matthew Mitchell (Jenny) of Charlotte, NC; his grandsons, Beckett, Cyrus James and Hampton Mitchell of Wake Forest, NC.; his siblings, Ann Mitchell of Oxford, AL and Joe Mitchell (Zoriana) of Tampa, FL; and his sister-in-law Jane Crain of Birmingham.
