He was predeceased by: his parents, Rufus Huel Yates and Zenobia Hicks Yates; his grandparents, John Kyle Yates, Mattie Stewart Yates, Andrew Hicks and Dorothy Watkins Hicks; his siblings, Joyce Jacobs (Dale), Wanda Brumbelow (Mel), Ruenette Hulsey and Terry Yates (Joy); and his grandsons, William Yates McGuffin and Will.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Croft Yates; his daughter Heather Cole; and his grandchildren, Cecilia McGuffin (Cameron Crosby) and George Cole. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
