With sadness, we share the passing of James M. Bates of Anniston, Alabama. James, born on December 24, 1937, passed away on September 2, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Melvin Bates and Ruby Lee Curtis; his granddaughter Heather Shaw; and his sisters, Sarah Brice and Joyce Prep.
He is survived by: his wife Rebecca F. Bates; his children, James Bates, Jr. (Karen), Jeri Ann Shaw (Tommy) and Mark Alan Bates (Karen); his grandchildren, Chris Shaw, Hanna Madrigal (Chris) and Whitney Bates; his great grandchildren, Beckett Alan Madrigal and Dax Bates; his sister Jerry Kasselman; and his nephew James.
