He was predeceased by: his parents, Lois Gortney and Margie Gortney; his wife Juanita Gortney; his siblings, Jean Gortney, Bobby Joe Gortney, Willis Gortney and Paul Gortney; and his siblings-in-law, Ray Mayo and Helen Oates.
He is survived by: his sister Sherry Cotney (Jimmy) of Wadley; his siblings-in-law, Debra Jordan (Pete) of Lineville, Paul Mayo "Sparkplug" (Regina) of Ashland and Jimmy Mayo (Shirley Harris) of Ashland; and his caregiver Dee Carr. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a large extended family.
