He was predeceased by: his parents, J. C. Upchurch and Annie Mae Tomlin Upchurch; his wife Ottilu McCain Upchurch; and his siblings, Judy U. McCollum, Linda U. Giddens, Helen Upchurch, Clyde and Roger Upchurch.
He is survived by: his children, Charles David Upchurch (Brittany) and Donna Upchurch; his siblings, Alice Fowler (Donny), Johnny Upchurch (Sheryl) of Ashland and Kenneth Upchurch of Ashland; his grandchildren, Derek Mastin, Tyler Mastin (Shaeley), Breana Railey (John Dylan), Kayla Mastin, Kaydence Davis and Raylan Davis; and his great grandchildren, Kaylen Mastin, Camryn Mastin and Coplen Railey.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM at the Benefield Funeral Home-Ashland (85499 AL-9, Ashland, AL 36251). The lying in state will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Liberty Baptist Church (83558 AL-9, Ashland, AL 36251). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
