He was predeceased by: his parents, Delmar Austin Griffin and Avice Williams Griffin; and his siblings, Austin Ogle, Iris Bailey and Patricia Ogle.

He is survived by: his wife Emma Sue Griffin of Ashland; his son Damien Wayne Griffin of Ashland; his stepchildren, Bobby Hogan (Toni Hill) of Talladega and Heather Harrell (Tommy) of Talladega; and his sisters, Constance Davis and Kathy Smith. He is also survived by five grandchildren.
