He was predeceased by: his mother Eva Viola Gupton; and his brothers, Charles Gupton, Robert Gupton and Abner Gupton. He is survived by: his wife Joyce; his children, Joseph V. Gupton, Jr. (Kellye) and Tracy Gupton Haynie; his stepchildren, David Knight (Mary) and Brendi Trotter (Dave); his grandchildren, Tori Knight, Rebekah Hunt, Tyler Martin, Cooper Martin, Spree Haynie and Jenny Marie Trotter; his great grandchildren, Kodie, Caleb and Caiden; and his siblings, Clara Connell, Lorene Walker and David Gupton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Greensport Baptist Church (Ashville, AL) Building Fund.
