He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Ward and Lolie Ward (Knowles). He is survived by: his wife Mary Spann Ward; his son Colonel David (Retired); his granddaughters, Audrey Kate Andrews (John), Meredith Long (Logan) and Anne Everett Ward; and his siblings, Sam Ward (Sarah), Helen Weeks (Wayne) and Dianne Norwood (Marlon). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
