He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Cecil and Jean Knox Poole Hampton; and his grandparents, Homer, Mildred Poole, Willie and Hettie Knox.

He is survived by: his wife Janet Thompson Poole; his children, Charles Jameson "Jaime" Poole (Sandy) and Sarah Elizabeth Poole; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Shattuck and Zack Shattuck; his siblings, Wanda Horsley (Mike) and Barry Hampton (Joely); and his nieces and nephews, Nathan Horsley (Jessica), Alston Hampton, Bryce Horsley, Sophia Hampton and Harper Horsley.

He laid the foundation, as a strong culture builder and a believer in building on individual strengths.
