He was predeceased by: his parents, Lem Mitchell and Willie Angeline Mitchell. He is survived by: his wife Alma Frances Lindsey Mitchell; his children, Stephanie Lynn Robertson (James) and David Lindsey Mitchell (Nicole); his granddaughter Elizabeth Lindsey Robertson; his sister Frances Mitchell Johnson (Cummins); and his sibling's children, Dr. Alicia Barker (Bruce), Sandra Ulishney (Adam) and Stephen Peek (Maria). He is also survived by two great-nieces; and four great-nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 10th 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:45 PM at the Limestone Chapel Funeral Home (322 US-31, Athens, AL 35611). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 10th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Affinity Hospice in Madison.
