He was predeceased by: his parents, Elvie King of Rogersville and Henry D. King; his siblings, Willie King, James King, Charles King, Fran McDaniel and June Balash; and his brother-in-law Wendell Thornton.

He is survived by: his wife Jane King; his sons, Jeffery Alan King (Jennifer), Jimmy D. King (Kathy) and Justin "Beau" Jackson; his siblings, Doug King, Jean King Thornton and Bettie Ann Michael (Travis); his grandchildren, Jackson Tyler King (Brianna), Jeremy Dee King, Jessica Marie King, Sammy, Shelby Jo and Shayzee; and his great grandchildren, Avery James King, Kayden Dawn King and Ryse King. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
